For dry processing applications, CC plus C is the coating of choice. Ultrahard CC plus C utilizes a solid state lubricant and provides exceptional wear performance. It is applied using CemeCon's High Ion Sputtering (H.I.S.™) technology. CC plus C provides exceptional results in dry machining of low and high-alloyed steels and in machining of aluminum, also with reduced amounts of lubricants.

This is extremely important in reducing overall operations costs since low thermal conductivity reduces the need for coolants and lubricants, lowering manufacturing and waste disposal costs while meeting today's environmental and safety standards. And because it has a solid state lubricant added to the coating, CC plus C significantly lowers the heat influence and thus the thermal stress imposed on the tool. Both cold welding and initial wear are drastically reduced, chip flow is improved, and heat is carried off with the chip. Therefore, the heat affected zone (and thus thermal stresses within the cutting tool) are reduced significantly.

In addition, by increasing cutting parameters, reducing lubrication use, and replacing grinding operations with turning operations, an even higher percentage of savings can be achieved while reducing manufacturing lead times.
